I am a contemporary abstract artist living and working in Vienna, Austria. I have always been deeply passionate about expressing myself through various art mediums. This passion was initially sparked by my years of acting in theater in Belgrade, Serbia, but it was through painting that I discovered a new way to communicate with the public and express my innermost feelings and emotions.
I have been actively painting since 2020 and had the opportunity to participate in numerous exhibitions across Europe and the United States, and exhibited my works at international art fairs and galleries all around the world (e.g. New York, Miami, Dallas, Marbella, Milan, Rome, Venice, Vienna, Zürich, Dubrovnik). I have participated at the 59th Biennale di Venezia 2022 in the MUSA Pavilion and have been selected for the XIV Florence Biennale Florence 2023.
My work has been recognized with several art prizes, such as “10 Must Have Artists” within the project We Contemporary organized by MUSA International Art Space, the prize “The Best Modern and Contemporary Artists London Prize” curated by Salvatore Russo, as well as the prize “WAA Woman’s Art Award 2023” by MUSA International. Furthermore, I have been selected for the Summer Art Residency “Baroque Blue” which will take place in Santa Caterina di Nardo, Italy in July 2023. In addition to my artistic pursuits, I hold a Ph.D. in European Cultural History from the University of Belgrade.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My art is an extension of my innermost self, a visual manifestation of my deepest emotions and feelings. Through my art, I seek to explore the complexities of the human experience, distilling its raw essence into a harmonious balance of color, form, and movement.
Inspired by the pioneering figures of German and international expressionism, including Gerhard Richter, Wassily Kandinsky, and Jean-Paul Riopelle, my work represents a bold and unapologetic departure from the constraints of traditional art forms. Guided by an unyielding passion for experimentation, I push the boundaries of painting styles and techniques to achieve a level of depth and richness that speaks to the heart of the human experience.
My preferred technique is the use of a palette knife and rulers, which allows me to layer colors in varying intensities and textures, creating works that are as complex and nuanced as the emotions they seek to capture. By harnessing the power of color and form, I aim to transcend language and speak directly to the primal aspects of our shared humanity, and to express the complexity of the human feelings in my artworks.
